Although in direct competition with other Seed Cleaning services throughout the Kellerberrin Shire and the wheatbelt of WA, EDSCO soon developed a reputation as one of the leading grain cleaning businesses in the wheatbelt area. Under the direction of good managers and excellent staff, EDSCO has grown into a large seed cleaning service. Since 1991 under the direction of the current Managing Director Mr. Ian Doncon, the Company expanded it's operations to the cleaning of small seeds such as Sub Clover, Medic Clovers and Serradella Seeds for Pasture rejuvenation and replacement of nitrogen back into the soil. EDSCO is a strong community minded business and currently provides a substantial amount of sponsorship to the local sporting clubs within Kellerberrin and the surrounding districts including the Kellerberrin Volunteer Fire and Rescue service. Without this generous sponsorship sporting clubs would cease to exist.

In 2000 I visited the four main seed processing plants in WA. The paramount requisite was nil contamination between grading runs of bulk amounts of Pedigree seed and a demonstrated ability to comply with the Departments SQF2000 Quality plan. EDSCO clearly meets this criteria compared with the other seed works. They modified a non course grader to enable a total seed cleandown to achieve zero contamination. The innovation demonstrated by EDSCO allows the Department to have full confidence to have small lots of Pedigree seed graded and distributed for commercial bulk up by growers. Any contamination at initial grading has the potential to set back release and adoption of seed by two years and also could result in lost royalties approaching $1m.
